Tim's Tidy Sum

Tim Bonnett and TV presenters

HAD Director Tim Bonnett raised a tidy sum of money in 2008 and appeared on TV at the same time.

Tim and wife Trish cleared out all their unwanted household rubbish and made £750 for HAD. And the couple's exploits were filmed for the BBC1 daytime show Trash to Cash.

Their Whitehill Road home in Hitchin is a lot tidier after the show's experts and valuers - Lorna Spicer, Paul Hayes and Mark Franks - found and repaired a whole host of items.

These included one of rock fan Tim's old guitars, his collection of DIY, motoring and gardening tools, a huge collection of old videos and loads of general household bric-a-brac that the family no longer need.

Half the money raised goes to HAD with the remainder being put towards Tim and Trish’s daughter Laura's wedding later this year.

The programme culminated in a giant house sale with ex-policeman Tim's 1963 Hofner Verithin guitar fetching £600.

'It was great to be able to help HAD in their 50th year,' Tim explained. 'With three grown-up children away from home, we accumulated quite a lot of clutter over the years,' he said.

Trish, a Business Development Manager with the local Pinehill Hospital, said: 'To be able to clear out lots of it and make some money for a worthwhile cause is great news.'

Chief Executive Annabelle Waterfield was equally delighted: 'We had a number of fundraising events in 2008 and to have this added cash is a real boost,' she said.
